WRDA 2000 Pilot Projects
Pilot projects have been authorized under WRDA 2000 to address technical uncertainties associated with some of the physical features of the Plan such as aquifer storage and recovery, seepage management, and wastewater reuse.
Pilot projects determine the feasibility, as well as optimum design, of the features prior to embarking on full-scale development of these features.
Pilot Projects:
- Caloosahatchee River (C-43) Basin, Aquifer Storage and Recovery, $6,000,000
- Lake Belt In-Ground Reservoir Technology, $23,000,000
- L-31N Seepage Management, $10,000,000
- Wastewater Reuse Technology, $30,000,000
- Total amount: $ 69,000,000 (Federal and non-Federal)
Two other Pilot Projects were previously authorized in WRDA 1999. They are:
- Hillsboro and Lake Okeechobee Aquifer, Florida
