L-31 Seepage Management Public Workshop

L-31 Seepage Management Public Workshop

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the South Florida Water Management District will hold a public information workshop on the L-31 North Seepage Management Pilot Project draft project management plans. Presentation on the L-31 North Seepage Management Pilot Project will begin at 6:30 pm followed by a public comment session. Staff will describe the pilot project and seek public input for the development of the project management plans.

A project management plan defines the general scope, schedules, products and funding requirements of a project. The L-31 North Seepage Management Pilot Project will investigate seepage management technologies to control seepage from Everglades National Park. The pilot project will provide the information necessary to determine the appropriate amount of wet season groundwater flow to return to Everglades National Park while minimizing potential impacts to Miami-Dade County's West Wellfield and freshwater flows to Biscayne Bay.

The benefits of the project will include the determination of construction technologies, impacts to local hydrology, and impacts on local water quality effects of a given technology. The pilot project is a component of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP).
