CERP Project:
Acme Basin B Discharge

Goals of this project include capturing surface water for reuse for the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge and the Lake Worth Drainage District municipal water supply that would otherwise be routed through Basin A to C-51 and lost to tide; and to reduce harmful discharges to the Lake Worth Lagoon. Acme Basin B encompasses approximately 8,680 acres of low-density development with the primary land uses being rural residential lots and nurseries with a substantial presence of stables and other equestrian uses.

Since the original concept for the construction of a wetland or chemical treatment area and a storage reservoir with total storage capacity of 3,800 acre-feet near the refuge in Palm Beach County, the project has changed from an on-site water quality treatment project to a water conveyance project to an off-site water quality treatment area (STA 1E) to address runoff.
