Project Description
This project includes relocation and modifications to pump stations and development of a spreader canal system located in the northwest corner and west-central portions of Water Conservation Area 3A in western Broward County. The purpose of this project is to increase environmental water supply availability, increase depths and extend wetland hydropatterns in the northwest corner and west-central portions of Water Conservation Area 3A. Additional flows will be directed to the northwest corner and west central portions of Water Conservation Area 3A by increasing the capacity of the G-404 pump station and increasing the capacity and relocating the S-140 pump station. A spreader canal system at S-140 will reestablish sheetflow to the west-central portion of Water Conservation Area 3A. Water quality treatment of flows is assumed to be provided by the Everglades Construction Project and water quality treatment strategies developed to fulfill the Non-Everglades Construction Project requirements of the Everglades Forever Act. If additional treatment were determined to be required as a result of future detailed planning and design work, those existing facilities would be modified to provide the necessary treatment. |
