Program Management:
Geodetic Vertical Control Surveys
Program Management Plan:
A Geodetic Vertical Control Survey Project was completed in the 16 county area of south Florida within the boundary of the Central and Southern Florida (C&SF) Project. The purpose of this project was to provide a common vertical elevation framework for scientific data analysis, modeling, design, construction, and operations and maintenance.
Project work involved surveying 1,000 linear miles (2,000 miles forward and back) of 1st Order Class II level lines referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88), set or recover approximately 1,000 monuments, route reconnaissance, processing and web-serving the data on National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) in "bluebook" format at the following URL: http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/datasheet.prl
This network of new positions will form the basis of all spatial data collections in support of CERP. All monitoring wells, gauging stations, structures, trigger wells, and other project or program elements with an elevation component will be referenced to the new monuments to ensure systems connectivity.
This project was completed with close coordination between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the South Florida Water Management District.
Information and locations of all survey monuments in the area can also be found on the USACE Survey Monument Archival and Retrieval Tool (U-SMART).
