Minority Outreach

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and their federal, state, local and tribal partners are committed to creating and distributing new and innovative information tools that engage and serve the minority communities throughout south Florida.

  • Everglades Report CoverCommunity Outreach in Action (COIA)
    This newsletter contains information about the Everglades and brings news about its restoration efforts to the minority audiences in south Florida. The newsletter highlights outreach services and events, as well as business opportunities to the minority communities. In addition, it delivers updated information about the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP). The COIA newsletter is provided in English and in Spanish.
  • Eco Tour Music Video
    This music video was written and performed by students from Paxon Middle School in Jacksonville, Florida. The music video was developed was created after the students were inspired by a field trip to the Everglades, supported in part by Everglades National Park.
  • Kwanzaa 2005 ScreensaverKwanzaa Screen Saver
    The screensaver is produced by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and features the seven principles of Kwanzaa. They reflect the life of an environmental family celebrating Kwanzaa. The screensavers were developed to remind us of the important connection between the natural environment and the quality of life.
  • Livin' With the WatersLivin' with the Waters family
    The Waters' are a fictional family that move to urban south Florida and face everyday challenges. Along the way, they learn valuable lessons about the ecosystem and the plan to restore America's Everglades. Featured products of the Waters family series include an activity Book, the 2011 calendar bookmark and face masks.
  • Novelas
    These Spanish "soap operas" are part of a fun and innovative audio program that highlights special initiatives of Everglades’ restoration.  The 90 - 120 second program communicates various environmental messages to the Hispanic community in a creative and clever way.  Novelas are broadcast on popular Spanish radio stations.
